Gleason Peach is a fruiting deciduous tree primarily grown for its crop of freestone peaches ready for harvest in midsummer. Lovely clusters of fragrant pink flowers bloom in spring. The fruits are large, and ripen to golden yellow with a light blush and has a rich, sweet flavor. Grows best in full sun and rich, moist well-drained soils. Frost tolerant!
Gleason is a strain of Early Elberta that is self-pollinating and popular for canning. It that fruits by its second to fourth year, and has a chill requirement of 800 hours.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: High Maintenance. Needs regular watering. Peaches have a lot of pest and disease issues and need regular spraying to ensure good crop. Potential pests include tree borer, fruit moth, root nematodes, and aphids. Late spring frosts can severely damage flower buds. Fallen fruit can be messy if not harvested.
