Ozark Witch Hazel is native deciduous shrub with a spreading vase like habit and ribbon like winter flowers. These flower clusters bloom before the foliage emerges from mid winter into spring and have red bases that transition to copper at the tips, looking golden from a distance.  The oblate green leaves emerge with red tints and turn yellow in fall.  Best bloom in rich, consistently moist, well-drained acidic soils.  Tolerates deer and clay soil.
