The Baileyi Red Twig Dogwood is known for its striking red branches, which are most prominent during the winter months when the leaves have fallen. These red stems create a beautiful contrast against the snow or a winter landscape. In the spring, the shrub produces clusters of small white flowers, followed by small white berries that attract birds.

In terms of size, the Baileyi Red Twig Dogwood typically reaches a height of about 6 to 9 feet (1.8 to 2.7 meters) with a similar spread. It has a rounded and spreading growth habit, forming a dense thicket of branches.

This dogwood variety is often used for erosion control, as a hedge, or as a specimen plant in the landscape. It prefers full sun to partial shade and can tolerate a wide range of soil conditions, including wet or poorly drained soil.
