Forsythia is a genus of 7 species of deciduous shrubs that produce yellow early spring flowers before their leaves are out.  It has several hybrid selections.  Flowers best in full sun and well-drained soils.  Moderately drought tolerant once established.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low Maintenance.  Water regularly-weekly or more in extreme heat.  Unkempt growth may occur if shrub not regularly pruned after flowering.  Propagate with stem cuttings.  Some susceptibility to leaf spot and crown gall.
