Dwarf Purple Willow is a small multi-stemmed deciduous shrub with a rounded spreading habit. Striking purple stems sport fine narrow blue-green leaves are lanceolate to elliptic, about 2-4 inches long with no significant color in fall.  The small silver-gray catkins bloom in late summer.  Thrives in full sun with moist to wet well-drained soils.  Tolerates occasional flooding and poor soil.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  High maintenance.  Avoid dry soils. Susceptible to numerous disease problems including blights, powdery mildew, leaf spots, gray scab and cankers. Potential pests include aphids, borers, scale, and lacebugs.  Do not plant near drains or sewers, as the roots may crack or clog them.
