Juniperus virginiana 'Skyrocket'

The Skyrocket Juniper is known for its narrow, columnar growth habit, which gives it a distinctive and elegant appearance. It typically reaches a height of 15 to 20 feet (4.5 to 6 meters) with a spread of only 2 to 3 feet (0.6 to 0.9 meters), making it an excellent choice for small spaces or as a vertical accent in the landscape.

This juniper variety has scale-like leaves that are a vibrant blue-green color, adding a touch of color and texture to the garden. It is an evergreen plant, meaning it retains its foliage year-round.

The Skyrocket Juniper is known for its tolerance to a variety of growing conditions. It can thrive in full sun and is adaptable to different soil types, including sandy or clay soils. It is also relatively drought-tolerant once established.

In terms of care, the Skyrocket Juniper is relatively low-maintenance. It requires minimal pruning, usually to maintain its shape or remove any dead or damaged branches. It is generally a hardy and resilient plant.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Low Maintenance.  Junipers are generally susceptible to blights, especially in unusually wet weather.  Rust and canker may occur, though it is not serious.  Potential pests include aphids, bagworms, webworms, and scale.

LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Rock Gardens, Naturalized Areas, Shade Tree, Privacy Screen, Windbreaker.
